Princess Diana

Snowdon was unimpressed by pretension or self-importance and he will prick the egos of his sitters in order to reveal something of the true person underneath.

He sometimes insisted that his sitters wear one of his blue denim shirts, thereby putting them on the same level and removing any airs of rank or power. Here Princess Diana is wearing one such shirt.

This work by Lord Snowdon is part of the National Portrait Gallery in London UK.
